BS AU 145e is the rigorous British Standard for vehicle registration plates. Every road-legal plate we produce is permanently marked with: 1) The British Standard code "BS AU 145e" in the bottom right corner, and 2) The registered manufacturer/supplier name and postcode in the bottom centre. These markings are required by UK law and allow your vehicle to pass the annual MOT inspection seamlessly.

Can I put custom spacing, slogans, or non-standard fonts on my plate?

Accepted Answer

No. To remain road legal, characters must strictly follow the standard UK font (Charles Wright), correct letter spacing (11mm between letters, 33mm between character groups), and margins. Plates with altered spacing (e.g. spacing letters to spell names or words) are strictly for off-road/show use only and could result in an MOT failure or roadside fine if used on public highways.

Are Green EV Flash Badges legal on any car?

Green EV flash side stripes are legally permitted ONLY on Zero-Emission Vehicles (100% pure battery electric vehicles or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles). Yes! As long as the characters maintain standard legal font height (79mm), width (50mm), and the mandatory 11mm outer border margin, the overall plate length can be trimmed down for 5-digit and 6-digit private registrations. We laser-cut Short 6-Digit (405×111mm) and Short 5-Digit (330×111mm) plates that are 100% MOT compliant.

Can I pressure wash my 3D Gel or 4D Laser Acrylic plates?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our 3D gel resin and 4D acrylic letters are bonded using UV-cured industrial bonding agents tested up to 140 bar water pressure. However, we advise holding the pressure washer lance at least 30cm (12 inches) away from plate edges and avoiding abrasive caustic traffic film removers (TFR) with pH > 12.

Will the 3D resin or 4D acrylic fade or turn yellow in direct sunlight?

Accepted Answer

Never. We use premium automotive-grade aliphatic polyurethane gel resin with built-in UV blockers and optical-grade cast PMMA acrylic. They will not yellow, cloud, crack, or delaminate even under extreme sun or frost.
